The disinfection of the dental unit water with stabilized chlorine dioxide (BIOXTERIL) using OSMO STERIL significantly reduces the risk of contamination because:

  • The aerosol generated by the rotating instruments will also contain chlorine dioxide
  • The new SARS-CoV-2 virus of a patient (positive but asymptomatic) capable of contaminating the water circuit by backflow, will certainly be counteracted by the chlorine dioxide present in the water.

We have manufactured and patented OSMO STERIL a centralized device which filters water through a reverse osmosis process, eliminating the risk of contamination from the incoming water mains and disinfects it with stabilized Chlorine Dioxide (BIOXTERIL), eliminating the risk of its contamination for the reflux of bacteria and viruses coming from the patient’s mouth simultaneously limiting the danger of viruses and bacteria in the aerosol generated by the rotating instruments.

Reverse osmosis is the most secure and widespread method in the World. It allows to produce uncontaminated water, without limestone and other undesired substances.

Chlorine Dioxide (ClO2) is instead universally recognised as the best disinfectant that Science has put at man’s disposal.
Oxidising gas, soluble in water, it is already used in many countries to produce drinking water and has a highly bactericidal and virucidal power, capable of dissolving the biofilm in the piping from already operating dental units or preventing its formation in newly installed ones, since it attacks the cell wall of microrganisms and kills them even when they are inactive.

Reverse osmosis:
It’s the most widespread and secure water filtration method in the World.
It allows the elimination of bacteria, viruses and all the micrometric pollutant particles, ensuring an absolute purity of the water.

Chlorine Dioxide (CLO2):
It’s a gas, soluble in water, with high bactericidal, virucidal and sporicidal power and is therefore capable of eliminating Legionella in its various species.
It penetrates the microrganism’s wall arresting their metabolic process and thus preventing the development of their resistance.
It’s able to eliminate the biofilm and to prevent its formation.
